Primitive Fire & Survival Training - 1 Day Course

For millennia, humans made fire from rubbing sticks together. Utterly simple; not easy.Learning primitive fire techniques is a rewarding, life-saving skill that awakens your long lost ancestral abilities.
Join us for a small-group, hands-on, outdoor training focused on fun & challenging fire making methods and how to survive with very limited resources.
You will be learning & practicing techniques that require concentration, patience, and repetition.
What You Will Learn
• Various primitive fire lighting methods from stone to friction fires
• Identification of local plants, trees, and mushrooms for the creation of fire, shelter, tools, food, and medicine
• Construction of simple effective shelters from local natural materials
• Safe Water Sourcing & purification
• Survival priorities, how lost situation actually happen and how to prevent them
• Practice primitive navigation techniques and outdoor decision-making skills
• How to increase your chances of getting rescued

• hikers & campers
• hunters & anglers
• anyone wanting real outdoor confidence
Physical Expectations
This is a moderate activity level course. You should be able to:
• Stand and move around outdoors for extended periods
• Work with your hands
• Kneel / squat / sitting on the ground (bring a blanket or mat to sit on)
• Be outside in various weather conditions
• No bathrooms other than the great outdoors
What To Bring
- Dress for being outside all day! Weather appropriate clothing - long pants, raincoat, layers, hat & gloves if necessary,
- Sturdy footwear - no sandals.
- Something to sit on- like camping pad or blanket as skills will be practiced on the ground
- Lunch, snacks, and water
- Mug or to-go cup
- Notebook & pen recommended
- Toilet paper & hand sanitizer recommended
- Folding knife with locking blade or a small sheath knife - (If purchasing, no need spend more than $60. If you don’t have one, let me know prior to the course)
- Optional - other ‘survival’ items you already own, will carry in the bush and want an opinion on

Course Format
• 10:00 am - 4pm
• Small group (max 10 participants)
• Takes place outdoors approximately 1 hour drive west of Edmonton (precise location will be sent in a welcome e-mail once registration is complete)
• Hands-on practice throughout the day
Certification
Participants receive a Certificate of Completion recognizing ‘Basic Survival Training & Primitive Fire Making’.
Weather Policy
Courses run in normal outdoor conditions including cool temperatures, light rain, or wind.
Learning to operate safely in imperfect conditions is part of the training. Courses will only be postponed in severe or unsafe weather.
Cancellation Policy
• 7+ days notice: full refund
• 3–6 days notice: 50% refund
• Less than 72 hours: no refund
• No-show: no refund
If the instructor cancels the course, a full refund or transfer will be given.
